• CERTIFIED OPERATORS
Always request ACPA-certified concrete pump operators.
• PROPER PPE
Require appropriate personal protective equipment for every operator.
• POWER LINE CLEARANCE
Maintain a minimum 20-foot clearance from power lines at all times.
• CURRENT BOOM INSPECTIONS
Keep boom inspections current and ensure all required repairs are completed.
• STABLE SETUP
Use proper outrigger pads every time the pump is set up.
• SECURED ATTACHMENTS
Secure the tip hose and all hanging attachments with safety straps.
• DESIGNATED SPOTTERS
Assign a spotter whenever the boom could extend into a power-line danger zone.
• CLEAR PLACEMENT AREA
Clear all personnel whenever air enters the placement system.
PREVENT
Knowing the risks, avoiding unsafe practices, and addressing hazards early are critical to a safe and successful pour.
• IMPROPER BOOM USE
Never use a placing boom as a crane.
• UNSUPPORTED PIPE
Do not operate the pump with additional pipe held horizontally by a crane.
• POOR VISIBILITY
Do not set up or operate a pump in inadequate lighting or darkness.
• PRIMING HAZARDS
Keep all personnel clear of the discharge hose while priming.
• BOOM OVERLOADING
Never exceed the manufacturer’s recommended hanging weight for the boom.
• UNSAFE OUTRIGGER POSITIONING
Never operate the boom over an unextended or short-rigged outrigger.
• METAL DISCHARGE ATTACHMENTS
Never attach a metal device to the end of the discharge hose.
